What is a Scar Removal?
To better understand scar removal, it is important to understand what scars are and how they are formed. Scars form
as a direct result of injury to our skin, and in particular the vital Dermis layer. This is the middle layer of skin between the
epidermis (the layer we see) and the subcutaneous (the layer we hope not to see). When damage to the skin occurs,
your body produces new collagen fibers and skin tissue so that it quickly mends itself. When the wound has finished
healing, a scar is often formed.

Types of Scars
•        Hypertrophic Scars. Caused by an overproduction of collagen.
•        Keloids. Scars that spread beyond the site of the original wound
•        Atrophic Scars. Scars that leave depression in the skin
•        Acne Scars. Scars that leave indentations in the skin
•        Contracture Scars. Sufficiently large area of dermis has been lost to an injury (usually a burn) or when a wound
occurs on a joint, such as the knee or elbow.

Symptoms
•        Scars can be very itchy
•        Cosmetic level. People feel better with their better looks.

Causes
Scars are areas of the skin where the process of healing has created a layer of fibrous tissue which is of reduced
quality to that which it has replaced. When damage occurs, the cut in the skin is repaired naturally. The most immediate
form of repair is the clotting of blood around the wound. This is often followed by coagulation (which creates a scab)
and then the Dermis layer begins the formation of collagen fibers which are the building blocks of skin. The tissue of
skin which has been created is not identical to that which it has replaced. The body’s prime concern is to heal and
repair – it is not concerned with how it looks. The layer of skin which forms from the new layer of collagen is thinner,
contains no new sweat glands or hair follicles and can often be discolored.

Scars are formed and healed in the Dermis layer of skin; the layer which is responsible for the production of collagen.
Most scars look depressed, like valleys in the skin.

Western medicine treatment
Different types of scars respond to different types of treatments and sometimes more than one procedure is needed.
Some of them include:
•        Laser Therapy
•        Chemical solutions
•        Dermal Therapy.
•        Scar Creams
•        Surgery
•        Radiotherapy
•        Chemical peels
