What is Intercostal Neuralgia?
Intercostal neuralgia occurs due to compressions in the nerves in the thorax-abdomen region or the rib cage area.
Numerous nerves run from the spinal cord and along the spaces between the ribs to the front of the body.
Symptoms
• Spasmodic pain occurring around the ribs
• Due to the placement of the nerve, Pain may cause breathing, laughing or sneezing to be painful.
• Left side pain
• Left sided back pain
• Episodic pain
• Tingling
• Numbness
• Paralysis
• Loss of appetite
• Muscle atrophy
Causes
• Nerve compression in the thoracic/abdominal area (ribcage area).

• Irregular curvature of the vertebrae

• A scar or suture around the nerve
